This mosaic wall hanging is a constant reminder of the power of working together we can make a difference. Bringing awareness and reflect on the impact domestic and family violence has on our community. By using a mixture of broken tiles and ceramics, this art piece along side “Aunty” also represents how people can piece their lives back together if they reach out for help.
Family, domestic and sexual violence is a major health and welfare issue. It occurs across all ages, and all socioeconomic and demographic groups, but predominantly affects women and children. Indigenous women, young women and pregnant women are particularly at risk.
Family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia, 2018 publication released 28/2/2018 by AIHW shows alarming results. We often think of violence in women in children in epic proportions in 3rd world countries but this report shows it is in crisis in our own back yard.
