Lillies – Floating Lake Installation

The Lillies installation activated the lake at Tondoon Botanic Gardens during Luminous Gladstone 2019, creating a glowing floating landscape across the water.

Six illuminated lily sculptures were floated across the lake, with their reflections becoming part of the artwork at night.

The forms were created using inflatable lounges adapted into sculptural petals, mounted onto custom floating bases that supported the lighting and battery systems.

Each lily operated on its own battery and timer, allowing the installation to automatically turn on at the start of the event and off at the end of the night without external power cables across the water.

The Keeper – Water Snake Installation

Installed in the tree line near the walking bridge, the Keeper was an illuminated water snake sculpture created for Luminous Gladstone 2019.

Constructed from recycled bubble wrap, the layered material created a glowing translucent effect when lit at night. Positioned within the darker vegetation, the sculpture appeared to emerge from the landscape, adding a mysterious and playful moment for visitors exploring the gardens.

Pallet Gallery – Outdoor Illuminated Art Gallery

The Pallet Gallery transformed a pathway at Tondoon Botanic Gardens into an illuminated outdoor gallery during Luminous Gladstone 2019.

Using stacked wooden pallets as bases, a series of illuminated artworks were installed along both sides of the pathway connecting the main event area to the private function space. The pallet structures provided stability for the artworks while also concealing lighting equipment.

The gallery featured a collection of installations exploring themes of nature, wildlife and imagination, including:

• Nest with eggs
• Lantern sculptures using pressed leaves and flowers from the gardens
• Metal bird sculpture
• Travelling Tree installation with reflective CDs
• Floating tutu sculpture suspended from a tree
• Glow-in-the-dark pebble mandala
• Dinosaur in the box interactive installation
• Industry sculpture made from recycled metal
• Projection artwork

Together these works created an engaging illuminated pathway that encouraged visitors to slow down and explore the installations.
