CQ Blossoms mural - Biloela

Date: August 2019
Location: Biloela Hospital
Size: 2m x 2m
Project Type: Mural

Client: Biloela Hospital

This project was created for the newly refurbished Antenatal Assessment Room at Biloela Hospital, a space dedicated to caring for pregnant women and their newborns. The artwork was inspired by research into native blossoms found in the Biloela region, resulting in a contemporary mural design across one feature wall and a matching mural on the door.

Art has the ability to influence how people feel when they enter a space. For many women and their partners, attending antenatal appointments can be an anxious time. Creating an environment that feels less clinical and more welcoming can help reduce stress and support a calmer experience.

The community served by the hospital represents many different cultural backgrounds, and it is important that healthcare spaces feel inclusive and comforting for everyone who enters them. Using nature as the central theme provides a gentle and universal connection, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for patients, families, and staff.
