“2SHARE” BY KATRINA ELLIOTT
Exhibition Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum
Presenting a selection of photographs by local artist Katrina Elliott.
“Working with the local indigenous families, I found I really had no idea about their culture. The more I learnt the more I wanted to know and the more I understood about the past the more I wanted to share. 2Share is a series of ongoing works, working together 2Share and to move forward.

To Share – Knowledge, Beliefs, Culture, Similarities, Differences, Laughter, Friendships.
Working with the local indigenous people, I found I really had no idea about there culture. The Road
Series of 3 Photographic Prints
Frame size 24×32”

These images are all compiled using multiple images placed on top of each other. The overlapping of images in I & II are portraying the unity with the land, a sense of belonging. III has a little humour with the oversized bird print on the road and the road sign being slightly in correct.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”normal”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Animal Dance
Series of 3 Canvas Prints 12×18”
Goanna, Ibis & Eagle

The Animal Dance was inspired by a talented Aboriginal Dancer Sermsah Bin Saad (A Contestant in So You Think You Can Dance). He graciously accepted to dance for me while he was visiting Gladstone in May. The images are taken at the salt flats on the outskirts of Gladstone. Watching him dance and how his body and the earth seemed to just merge was just incredible almost indescribable. (I nearly forgot to take photos) Having to narrow the hundreds of images down to three evolved images that rendered his animal like movements but in a still medium. The bold colouring was inspired by his youthful, strong vision for the future.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_separator type=”normal”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”17156,17154,17155,17148,17149,17150,17151,17152,17153,17157,17158″ img_size=”400×300″ direction_nav=”yes” control_nav=”yes” title=”Exhibition opening”][vc_column_text]5/7/2008 – Images courtesy of Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
