This mural was part of the Artz Hub project run by local Artist, Katrina Elliott. Over 150 patients and Staff from the hospital were involved in this colourful collaborative artwork. Each one of these tiles expresses thoughts of Gratitude often led with a wonderful story.

Gratitude, or appreciation of the good things that happen in our lives, is an essential part of building one’s happiness.

As you glance over these many tiles I encourage you to think about the things in life you are grateful for, not matter how large or small they are.

This mural was created as part of the Artz Hub Artist in residence project led by local artist Katrina Elliott. More than 150 patients and hospital staff contributed to this vibrant collaborative artwork, with each individual tile representing a personal reflection on gratitude. Many of the tiles were inspired by meaningful stories shared during the process.

Gratitude—the appreciation of the good things in our lives—plays an important role in supporting wellbeing and happiness.

As you look across the many tiles in this mural, you are invited to pause and reflect on the things you are grateful for, no matter how big or small they may be.

2026 Update

“The Gratitude Tree mural remains one of the most loved artworks in the hospital. Each tile continues to hold a moment in time and a story shared by the people who created it.”
