Moving Mountains is a mural commissioned by Anglicare Gladstone and created by artist Katrina Elliott. The artwork reflects the emotional journeys people experience in life, symbolised through a landscape of mountains across the skyline.

Mountains are often used as a metaphor for the challenges and achievements we encounter along the way. Some days the mountains in front of us feel steep and difficult to climb. Other days they feel small enough to overcome with ease. Each person’s journey is different, and our ability to climb, descend or move beyond these mountains is unique to our own experiences.

Through colour, form and landscape imagery, the mural invites viewers to reflect on resilience, personal growth and the many paths people take through life. Installed within the Anglicare Gladstone space, the artwork provides a visual reminder that while challenges may rise like mountains, they can also be moved, climbed or overcome.

The Moving Mountains mural contributes to a welcoming and reflective environment for the community while highlighting the power of public art to share meaningful stories within everyday spaces.
